Meta Horizon Worlds v109 is here, and it’s packed with new features and updates for creators. In this update, they’re introducing a new section to the Asset Library called “Popular”, where you can find the most useful assets ranked by other creators. They’re also testing invite codes again to make it easier for you to connect with and join your friends in Worlds. In addition to these new features, they’ve also made some quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. However, they did commit to making the tough decision to discontinue the event creation tool in Worlds as part of an effort to improve the overall quality of the platform.
New Section in Asset Library: Popular Horizon Worlds Assets
The Asset Library is a treasure trove of assets creators can use to build their worlds. In v109, They are introducing a new section in the Asset Library called “Popular”. In this section, you’ll find assets that have been ranked by other creators as useful. This is a great way to discover exciting new assets to use in your Worlds or to see what’s trending with other world builders.
To access the Popular section, go to the Asset Library and select the “Popular” tab. From there, you can browse the list of assets, filter by category, or search for specific assets.
Invite Codes to Join Friends’ Horizon Worlds
In v109, they’re testing invite codes to make it easier for you to connect with and join your friends in Worlds. To generate and enter invite codes, you’ll need to be in a joinable location like a public world, Home World, or invite-only instance. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to generate a code from places like Welcome Island.
To generate an invite code, open the world you want to invite your friend to and select the “Invite Friends” option from the menu. From there, you’ll see a button to generate an invite code. Once you’ve generated the code, you can share it with your friend. To join a world using an invite code, enter the code in the “Join World” menu.
Quality of Life Improvements
In addition to the new features, they have also made some quality-of-life improvements in v109. One of the most significant improvements is the option to add pronouns to your profile. This is an important feature that makes it easier for creators to express their gender identity and be addressed correctly in-world.
Discontinuation of Event Creation Tool
As part of an effort to improve the overall quality of the platform, they have made the difficult decision to discontinue the event creation tool in Worlds. Existing events that have already been created can still go on as planned. However, creators will no longer be able to create new events.
Known Issues
As with any software update, there are some known issues with v109. These include incorrect visitor counts for some worlds, scrolling issues with the left controller, and a bug where users are unable to see a new follower’s profile after clicking on a notification in the menu. However, they’re working to address these issues as quickly as possible.
